Well, I guess “better late than never” is appropriate here. I finally got around to uploading some pictures from my scuba diving trip to Bonaire in September, 2007.

I have uploaded pictures of Caleb and Elijah at the Log Cabin Village Harvest Festival in Fort Worth, TX.

Dear Heflins & friends,
Click on the link below to watch a short video of the memorial dedication where Paul Heflin was honored here in Escondido, California.
If you know just where to look, you can see Uncle Ron, the back of Grandma’s head, and the picture of Grandpa that Heather painted. You can also see the brick with Paul Heflin’s name engraved on it in the “Wall of Courage.”
Sunday was a great day, and I could not have been happier to have these Heflins here with me.
Love you all,
Shane

Also, here are some pictures from the dedication.
Shane Sullivan writes:
Our “grandpa” Paul served his country during WWII. More specifically, he served us. He was injured and received the purple heart, and he showed bravery and was awarded the bronze star. I’d like to remember his sacrifice for us by putting his name on a bronze plaque as part of a new veterans memorial wall in our town. I’d like to be able to take my children to this place, point to the name on the wall, and say, “That’s my grandfather. This is what he did for you, and for us all.”
Would any of you like to stake a claim with me in this venture? The price is not too much, $250, but the main thing is that each of you get a chance to honor and remember grandpa this way, if you want to. Even if you want to pitch in five or ten bucks, that’s fine; if not, that’s fine, too. I at least wanted you to know about this idea, because it’s something meaningful to me, and I thought it would be to you, too.
I know it will be far from many of you, and you may never get a chance to see it in person. I’ll do my best to send pictures and/or video of it to Heath, so he can put it on the Heflin web site, whenever its construction is finished. And, if you ever come visit us in California, we’d be proud to take you to the city park and see the memorial. My love to all of you,
Shane
P.S. The public dedication of the memorial will be this Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2007.

I have just finished loading the first set of pictures from the old website onto the new one. I loaded the pictures from the trip to Washington D.C. where we took Grandpa to see the World War II Memorial.

You have found your way to the new and improved Heflin Family website. We’ve made some changes, and hopefully you will like the new site as much as the old one. This new site is being implemented in a “blog” format which should hopefully allow it to be updated more frequently than the old one.
If you are looking for the pictures that were on the old site, please be patient. I am migrating them over as fast as I can, but it may take a little time. Meanwhile, look around and enjoy!
